If anything, the ad agency was right and wrong. Right in the sense that if Steve is a righty, he shoots left. Wrong, tremendously so, to assume anything. The ad agency did screw up because they didn///#39;t do a little, and I mean a little, homework.

Damian — ever play hockey before? Or even pick up a stick? Just because a person signs, eats, etc. with their right hand doesn///#39;t mean they play hockey with a right-handed shot.

And really, do we have to put a huge poster on the side of the Forum already? Hockey folks are usually pretty superstitious, haven///#39;t they noticed that it seems to be the kiss of death to be put up there? Maybe this will hint to them that he just wasn///#39;t meant to be put up there yet. And if they insist in putting him up there, why not call him Steven or Steve, to match the other 3? Sometimes I wonder how long they think these things through.

It is pretty OK get it that we are talking about hockey in late June early July and looking forward to the season. Let the naysayers go.

Ray///#39;s Who and I love Vinny4 may be on to something. After all, these are the same folks that did the whole Seen Stamkos thing which I thought was very good. I smell a fish. Brittany, that wall has been a curse, so maybe they know that and are having fun with us. It wouldn///#39;t surprise me. Looks like they will have us talking hockey all summer which I will enjoy instead of having to wait til September.

Obviously there///#39;s a big difference between being able to shoot either way and being able to effectively play in a game either way, I don///#39;t think anyone would or could even diapute that seriously. The only person I know of to ever master that and use it in NHL GAMES to his team///#39;s advantage was Mr. Hockey #9

Granted, that doesn///#39;t change the error the Stamkos banner. But it is a rather presumptuous to suggest the fact Stamkos signs with his right hand would have been a red flag for marketing group.

Lisa, there is a story on the Lightning website with some pictures of Steven with the kids at the hospital. The kids seemed to be very happy he was there and he had a big smile on his face the whole time. Nice to see that he is already prepared to do those kinds of things and really seemed to enjoy it. It is funny to think that he is only a few years older than some of those kids, it is hard to believe he is only 18.

I///#39;m as lefthanded as they come – even have to reach over past the flap and grab the zipper with my left hand – and I can///#39;t imagine having to shoot left. I///#39;d fall on my face, it feels completely alien. Bat left, yes but not in hockey. I don///#39;t know how they do it, having their dominant hand below…

If a guy is in his last year or so and doesn///#39;t feel like the team who offers him the most has a chance, why would he go? I understand that. These guys play to win and it becomes more evident the closer the best players come to the end of their careers they are looking to win. Period.

As someone who played hockey for many years and is still a rabid fan, I never thought about thid, but it rings true to me. It///#39;s especially true with goaltenders for a different reason. I///#39;m sure that many goaltenders grew up playing base ball too and so as most were righthanders they would have been used to playing with the golve on the left hand because they could throw better with their right arm. Naturally their stronger hand also ends up at the top of the stick. I probably never though about this because……YES Leo I was a switch hitter in hockey! Although naturally right handed, I shot right handed ( no wonder I never got any scholarship offers ) but I learned to shoot from both sides and heit from both sides in baseball. I used to throw batting practice left handed but never in a game. Woe is me….if I///#39;d only developed that left handed shot.

Nuh-uh, Twiney. Not even Mr. 9. That///#39;s just tough-talk. I///#39;m sure he could dazzle in practice, or against inferior opponents, but if he got cute with Richard, he woulda lost the puck and his head.
I///#39;m sure Crosby could develop circus skills. You should see the stuff Kovy does in practice; he can score left-handed, ONE-handed from his own blue-line. (and I///#39;m not even making that up) Go to YouTube: Kovalev Warrior.
Yet I never saw him even TRY IT in a game.

WOW! Vinny, Marty, Dan, Stammer, Prospal back, Malone and free agency is next week. This is going to be exciting!! Michael, you can come back and sit with me to watch the Bolts kick the stinkin Panthers.

I like the character of this kid all ready. Going to the hospital to visit with little kids that are sick shows he is made of the right stuff.

Most right-handed players are actually left-handed shots because a person///#39;s dominant hand goes on top of the stick. It is why, if you ever go to a hockey store, you are more likely to see more left-handed sticks than right-handed ones.

You are absolutely correct in how the dominant hand goes on the top of the stick. It///#39;s exactly why most right handers shoot from the left side of their body and lefties shoot from the right side of their bodies. There are exceptions of course and apparently Lil Stevie is one of em.

I am right handed, learned as a child right handed on a hockey stick because that is what felt most comfortable to myself. It is simply what is more comfortable and natural to you — slightly different than batting and writing.

At this point, the Times apparently has missed the trade of a 4th round draft choice by the Lightning to Pittsburgh for negotiating rights to Malone and Roberts. If Malone is signed, it becomes a 3rd round choice.

Leo, Kovalev is definitely amongst the most talented players in the league. That being said you probably won///#39;t win a cup until his ego is down the road. I like this move by the Lightning. Though what you said ( nobody will come to the Lightning because they finished last )could still hold true. Malone is he main piece of the puzzle for us and as such. this deal is huge.

I think the team should be renamed, the Tampa Bay Stamkos after the young man whom I assure you will be the ///quot;Tiger Woods of hockey.///quot; Also, let///#39;s also be sure that we make it known to him that we expect him to collect 3 or 4 major trophies next season. Finally, let///#39;s imprint a head shot of Steve on the ice so he can be constantly aware of our lofty expectations.

Leo, I///#39;m not a Canadian for one….I like to think us Americans think outside the box. You are right of course in that I didn///#39;t play both ways intentionally during games, but stuck with playing right handed. I commonly switched to left handed to take faceoffs against another right handed because I found it easier to draw the puck back left handed. I was a defenseman and only took draws when the center got tossed because I was the best on the team on a draw. The word for left in french is Gauche, which in english also means awkward, though I///#39;m not sure who thought that up. Jean Beliveau///#39;s nephew would have creamed me if I///#39;d played left handed against him, so you are right in that regard.

Tough to tell if he was being sincere or sarcastic.

Take a peek at last year///#39;s Bolts roster. Of 27 players, 20 have left-handed shots. Considering only 10 percent of the population is left-handed when it comes to daily tasks, I///#39;d be very surprised if a significant number of those 20 left-handed shooters are also lefties.

At least in Tampa they know who the team is, that there WAS a draft and who the pick is. Down here, no one knows we have a team, let alone, who we drafted. Forget ever knowing whether they shoot right or left!

I don///#39;t want to go through that thing again but if someone wants to waste a bunch of time, they could scan all the players in the league and find that in 90% of the players, they hold their stick with the dominant hand on the top. 90% is just a number I threw out there but I///#39;d guess it///#39;s higher.

It’s a city famed for its emotional ties to the ebb and flow of the game, a 100-year-old devotion to the bleu-blanc-rouge and a love affair, in a place credited as the cradle of hockey.

Visitors can recover from the raucous evening by zipping past the site of the Mount Royal Arena, home to the Canadiens between 1919 and 1926. A brightly-lit Provigo supermarket now stands at the corner of Mont-Royal Avenue and St. Urbain Street, but the surrounding blocks are worth a stroll to immerse yourself in Montreal’s culture of cafes, bistros and boutiques.

The pubs, sports bars and restaurants that mushroomed around the Bell Centre aren’t the only place to go for the full game-watching experience. One rowdy watering hole has made a name for itself among the city’s hockey buffs.

He recalls one night watching the game at Ziggy’s Pub — a basement watering hole once haunted by some of Montreal’s most famous denizens.

“When you’re downtown on game night, the bars are full, there’s chatter, there’s a buzz in the air,” Jenish says.

Nonetheless, packed to the rafters with Forum faithful, the building had an electric atmosphere and literally rumbled during the applause after each Habs goal.

If you can’t get rinkside, you can still absorb the ambience in some of the city’s best sports bars.

MONTREAL — Hockey pilgrims from near and far cannot find a better shrine at which to worship Canada’s national game than Montreal.

“When you sink yourself into that hockey history, you realize how much of the sport is right there in the streets.”

Besides, time between periods is best spent oggling the sex-kitten waitresses who dance on the bar during the lull. A DJ pumps out tunes between faceoffs.

The old Forum is hockey’s madeleine. Home to the Canadiens from 1926 to 1996, it’s the site where the most magic moments of the club’s storied history unfolded.

Van Steendelaar says watching a game in Montreal is second to none.

It’s only blocks from hockey’s new landmark, the Bell Centre, in the heart of modern Montreal.

“The fans are into it, even before the puck is dropped. The atmosphere just builds and builds and builds.”

Sadly, like the Mount Royal Arena, much of hockey’s history has vanished from Montreal’s topography.

Jenish says the famed arena was more modest than the Habs’ current home, which they moved into in 1996.

“These neighbourhoods gave us these great players,” says Jenish. “So many of the great names sprang up like trees growing in the neighbourhood.”

But Montreal’s park culture, which lent a hand in nurturing some of the most enduring legends of the game, lives on.

Massive plasma screens line the walls. Owner Paulo Branco had two more installed on the ceiling of the men’s washroom. Now, no play need go unwatched even in the most dire emergencies.

“It’s the ultimate hockey shrine now,” says Jenish.

There’s also a nod to old-style Quebec bar kitsch, with bras hanging from the antlers of a moose head, staff uniforms that comprise biker vests, and menus on ‘Je Me Souviens’-sloganned Quebec licence plates.

“The Forum didn’t have all that razzle-dazzle and the electronics and the jumbotron. They had the organ and that was about it.”

Residents still lace their skates for pick-up games on the city’s outdoor rinks.

On game night, the streets overflow with scalpers, youth hockey league kids jangling change buckets to raise money for away games and floods of jersey-sporting Habs fans, pulled downtown to join the Bell Centre’s 21,000-strong chorus.

Visitors can stroll east along Ste-Catherine Street, where fans rioted following Richard’s suspension in 1955 for decking a linesman during a bloody scrap on the ice, and wander by the site of the Victoria Skating Rink, where the game as we know it was shaped.

“A city changes and all that history gets erased,” mourns Jenish.

It was where the Beatles played their third Canadian concert in 1964 and where the Rolling Stones played their first in 1965 and, while it’s now a megaplex movie theatre, moviegoers can still enjoy a slice of the old Forum experience.

There, visitors can strap on rented skates and create their own cherished memories of Canada’s national winter sport.

“I’m sitting there thinking: ‘God. This is where Mordecai Richler drank and Nick Auf der Maur drank and I’m here watching the Montreal Canadiens and they’re winning and there may be a semi-final involving the Leafs,” he recalls, laughing.

Chez Serge, in Montreal’s trendy Mile End district, is part traditional brasserie and part ultimate game-watching experience. And, with so many party-loving hockey fans in town, the place is sometimes more crowded than the hallways of the actual Bell Centre.

We’re getting into the meat of Championship Week on Streak as the countdown to Selection Sunday conntinues. Startig off in the Big East Tournament Syracuse’s winning margin against Georgetown goes up against the Hoyas 3-pointers made. Later on in the Big East Tournament Villanova takes on Marquette.

The Big Ten Torunament begins today with Iowa vs. Michigan and Indiana vs. Northwestern. Both games are over/under props – the over/under for the Iowa-Michigan game is 116 and the over/under for Indiana-Northwestern is 135.

In the Big XII Tournament Texas Tech takes on Kansas with the over/under at 147 and in the ACC Tournament North Carolina battles Georgia Tech.

Believe it or not there are other sports on the Streak board today. Golf has Michael Bradley (tie) vs. Carl Pettersson in a lower first-round score matchup in the Puerto Rico Open and Steward Cink (tie) vs. Steve Strickler in a lower front-9 score prop in the PGA WGC-CA Championship in Miami.

OSC Lille (draw) hosts Liverpool in the UEFA Europa League first leg tie.

Finally in the NHL Pittsburgh is at Carolina and the Calgary Flames hosts Ottawa.

My planned picks for today are as follows:

So this puppy is going to have great special effects, it///#8217;s going be in IMAX 3D, and it has one more piece of the puzzle that made my ears drool (it///#8217;s a disgusting condition, I know, but I couldn///#8217;t help it.)? They announced Daft Punk (the best electronic duo (probably) ever) would be doing the soundtrack!? Thinking about this, I can///#8217;t imagine another band doing a soundtrack for a new Tron movie.? It///#8217;s a match made in heaven.? This movie will be a feast for the senses!? I won///#8217;t even care if the movie turns out to be as mentally stimulating as Avatar, my brain will be too busy screaming due to sensory overload!

Then something happened!? Basically on the eve of the Nickelodeon sale of the Turtles, Laird finally got his wish, and a vacuum-metalized Fugitoid finally came out.? He even decorated his tree with about 50 Fugitoids!? As for a review of the toy, this is an essential toy for any TMNT collector.? I only wish it was pose-able and the packaging wasn///#8217;t just a white box.? It does make a nice desk decoration, though.

Second, you must have a Bakugan in your used or unused pile from which your Bakugan evolves (also shown on the reference card.) If you meet both conditions, you may skip your turn and swap the Special Evolution Bakugan for the one that it evolves from.

Even when they finally did another Fugitoid figure years later, he was painted in a silver matte-finish.
